Guests: Dennis Bylo, Amber Schmaeling (MBA), Lillian Phillips
(Pre-meeting: William suggested that Margaret send renewal notice document to be forwarded to email list.)
Minutes: Approved by acclamation
Treasurer’s report: Balance forward March $4672.37. May balance was $4540.13. Treasurer’s report contained amounts for each date. Treasurer to be reimbursed $92 for March, April, May meeting refreshments, motion Matt, second Vivian, approved unanimously.
Correspondence: A notice from SKK that the Sacramento Kings Maloof & You Foundation is holding a NBA Lottery Watch party on Tuesday May 18 in the alley between 18th & 19th and Capitol, 18th between Capitol and L, both will be blocked off, 9 AM to midnight. Issues regarding the event were discussed: notification took place on the 10th , to nearby residents, neighborhood association not informed at all. Was East End office complex notified? Marion and Matt will draft a letter regarding lack of notification regarding events like this.
Dennis Bylo: Dennis draws “plein air” drawings of local buildings. He is working on a walking tour map of downtown Sacramento based on his drawings.
Jazz in the Park: Barbara distributed flyers and provided updates; we have raffle prizes and donated beer and wine. She needs more volunteers; Amber volunteered to help.
Cornerstone: Owner is seeking parking variance, discussion of mitigation strategies vs. the firm stance about not endorsing parking exemptions. Possible strategies include parking sharing agreements between daytime and nighttime businesses, reduced requirements for landmark buildings, increased angled parking and metered regions, alternate public transit.
Neighborhood Night Out: Marion has registered us, is interested in doing a street closing on Capitol Avenue. Event is Tuesday August 4. The idea of Midtown theaters and our growing presence as a theater district was discussed, although this is outside the scope of the NNO event.
Mail: Notice for public hearing, 2404 L Street, seeking setback reduction from 15 to 13 feet, May 13. R Street Market Plaza Community Meeting, Thursday May 13, 5:30 PM, CADA Courtyard.
Community Conversation: Vivian reported on the “Community Conversation” event held at Old Soul on May 11.
Margaret registered Midtown Neighborhood Association for National Night Out participation August 3rd.
